About the role
At MyFitnessPal, we believe good health starts with what you eat. We provide tools, resources and support to enable users to reach their health goals.
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the MyFitnessPal Infrastructure team. As a member of the MyFitnessPal Infrastructure team, you’ll have the opportunity to positively impact MyFitnessPal users through your expertise in the cloud infrastructure that drives the foundation of the MyFitnessPal ecosystem. Beyond technical expertise, your teammates value collaboration, mentorship, and inclusive environments.
About the team:
The Infrastructure team is responsible for architecting and operating the cloud and edge platforms that power all of our production and internal services. We are looking to evolve the team’s capabilities through opinionated infrastructure, developer self-service capabilities, and a strong bias toward automation over manual operations.
The Infrastructure team is part of the Technology Operations (TechOps) organization, which includes IT, Infrastructure, Security, Reliability, and DevOps/DevEx disciplines. TechOps enables MyFitnessPal to “ship with confidence” by delivering a secure, reliable, low-friction runway to build and operate software at scale.
Essential Duties:
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Infrastructure team, you will design, build, manage, and maintain an efficient, resilient, and secure production cloud and container-based infrastructure. You will play a key role in delivering an outstanding experience to MyFitnessPal users.
What you'll be doing:
- Work on major technical initiatives, researching and guiding the implementation of high-quality technical solutions that improve MyFitnessPal’s developer and user experience
- Build and maintain an efficient, resilient, and secure production cloud and container-based infrastructure that is critical for providing the best user experiences
- Evaluate and improve existing systems through automation and efficient architectural design
- Collaborate with your immediate teammates and other engineering teams to identify and implement requirements for building an amazing developer experience that allows quick, autonomous, and secure delivery of production changes
- Build quality codebases by engaging in code reviews as a mentor and peer and support resolution of production infrastructure issues across the entire MyFitnessPal stack
Qualifications to be successful in this role:
- 4+ years of experience as a software or cloud infrastructure engineer
- Extensive experience with Linux/Unix-based systems and cloud-native infrastructure on AWS using Docker and Kubernetes (e.g., EC2, EKS, S3, etc.)
- Expertise in public cloud-based networking and security (e.g., AWS VPC & Security Groups, Cloudflare, etc.)
- Extensive experience investigating and resolving technical problems, especially in the context of incident response, using cloud observability solutions (e.g., Datadog, New Relic, etc.)
