SRE Engineer
Madrid Office - Hybrid: 4 days in the office, 1 day working from home
About the role
Resilience Engineering helps Ebury’s products and services behave the way they are intended to behave. We work in two areas: In prevention, we give engineering teams the tooling, processes and guidance to make services production ready: SLOs, measurable recovery targets (RPO and RTO), and disaster recovery plans that are actually rehearsed. In remediation, we build the tooling and practices to detect incidents quickly, recover from them, and learn from them. You will join as an engineer, and your work will be measured on the reliability of the services you improve.
What you will do
- Define and track SLOs and error budgets with product teams, starting with Tier 1 services
- Build and maintain monitoring, alerting and on-call tooling
- Find single points of failure and work with owning teams to remove them
- Run and improve incident response, postmortems and follow-up of action items
- Plan and run recovery and failover exercises, and record the results as evidence
- Build a resilience scorecard so teams can see how ready their services are
- Automate repetitive work, including exploring AI-assisted triage over our knowledge base
- Write guidelines and coach teams on reliability practices
What you bring
- Experience in SRE, DevOps, platform or production engineering on live services
- Hands-on experience with observability tooling, alert design and on-call practices
- Solid scripting or programming skills (Python, Go or similar) and infrastructure as code
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), Kubernetes or similar
- Experience running incidents and writing blameless postmortems
- Clear written and spoken English; Spanish is a plus
Nice to have
- Experience with disaster recovery testing or chaos engineering
- Exposure to regulated environments (DORA, operational resilience)
- Interest in applying AI tools to operations
