Lantern is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our expanding product engineering pods. This is a strategic and highly visible role focused on driving your team’s architectural consistency, elevating technical standards, and helping scale our cloud-native healthcare platform to meet the needs of patients, care advocates, and enterprise clients.

As a Staff Engineer, you’ll partner with cross-functional teams – including engineering leads, product managers, clinicians, and compliance – to influence the design and delivery of scalable, secure, and maintainable systems. You will provide hands-on technical leadership across the stack while guiding engineering teams through complex architectural decisions, platform evolution, and modernization initiatives.

We are looking for someone who thrives in ambiguity, can zoom out to evaluate systems holistically, but is not afraid to dive into code to unblock teams or lead by example. If you enjoy solving complex system design problems, mentoring other engineers, and enabling organizational scale through thoughtful architecture, we’d love to hear from you.

Location: Hybrid - at least 3 days/wk in our Vancouver, BC Canada office

Responsibilities

- Act as a senior contributor and technical leader across key domains, collaborating within and across multiple pods to deliver cohesive and scalable solutions

- Drive system design and architecture for secure, resilient, and performant services using modern cloud-native technologies (Azure preferred)

- Collaborate with engineering, product, and compliance partners to ensure architectural alignment with business priorities, regulatory constraints, and product roadmaps

- Guide and mentor engineers, both formally and informally, on architecture best practices, technical growth, and system-level thinking

- Champion code quality, testability, and design standards, providing deep technical reviews and working examples that elevate engineering excellence

- Evaluate frameworks, tools, and integration strategies to support scale and interoperability

- Contribute to and evolve Lantern’s internal technical excellence guidelines, reference implementations, and technical documentation, with an emphasis on innovation, AI integration, and long-term maintainability
