THE ROLE: Infrastructure Operations Engineer

This role exists because our platform is scaling quickly — and complexity comes with it. As we expand our GPU infrastructure and our OpenStack and Kubernetes environments globally, we need engineers who are as comfortable on the data centre floor as they are at the command line. You’ll be hands-on with the physical hardware behind our platform — racking, stacking, cabling, commissioning, and managing faulty kit through RMA — with direct ownership over business-critical infrastructure that impacts performance, reliability, and customer experience.

This is not a desk-bound role. If you like getting your hands on real hardware, owning systems end-to-end, and seeing the impact of your work immediately — you’ll enjoy this.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

Rather than a long checklist, here’s what success in this role looks like:

- Own the physical build-out of our data centre infrastructure — racking, stacking, cabling, and commissioning servers, GPU nodes, storage, and network equipment on-site

- Diagnose hardware faults and manage the full RMA process with vendors, from identifying the failed component through to replacement, return, and confirming the node is back in service

- Bring new hardware into production on our OpenStack and Kubernetes environments, ensuring platform performance, scalability, and resilience for GPU workloads

- Keep asset records, rack layouts, spares inventory, and hardware runbooks accurate, so the team always knows what’s deployed and where

- Lead hands-on incident response for hardware and infrastructure issues, and drive continuous improvement of reliability across the platform

- Automate provisioning and operational workflows using infrastructure-as-code and GitOps practices

- Work closely with Platform, DevOps, AI, Product, and Support teams to align infrastructure capabilities with customer and platform requirements

Essential

- Direct hands-on experience physically working in data centres — you’ve personally racked and stacked hardware on-site

- Strong, proven experience building servers and racks — you’ve physically assembled, cabled, and commissioned hardware, not just specified or overseen it
