About the role
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Engineering Manager based in the United States.
As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a growing engineering team responsible for building and improving the technology that powers a next-generation digital healthcare experience. You will take ownership of team strategy, people management, technical delivery, and operational execution, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and consistently against ambitious business objectives. Working closely with Product Managers, engineering leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders, you will translate priorities into actionable plans and help remove obstacles to execution. You will also play a key role in developing engineers, strengthening team performance, and establishing scalable processes as the organization expands. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity where you will combine technical understanding with strategic thinking and a strong people-first management approach. Your work will directly contribute to improving internal operations and helping more patients access timely, high-quality dermatological care.
Accountabilities: - Lead and manage the Operations Experience engineering team, including technical leads, software engineers, and external contractors, taking ownership of team performance, development, and overall effectiveness.
- Establish regular one-on-one meetings, provide constructive and direct feedback, manage performance challenges, and create individual growth plans to support each team member's professional development.
- Take full ownership of engineering planning, delivery, resource allocation, and execution, ensuring that team priorities remain aligned with organizational objectives.
- Participate actively in agile ceremonies, roadmap planning, and technical design sessions to ensure effective coordination and predictable delivery of operational features.
- Monitor engineering performance through key delivery metrics, including cycle time, throughput, and deployment frequency, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Drive measurable improvements in engineering productivity, targeting at least a 20% improvement in two key delivery metrics within the first six months while maintaining quarterly roadmap commitments.
- Identify delivery risks, resource constraints, dependencies, and technical trade-offs early, communicating challenges proactively and recommending practical solutions.
- Collaborate closely with other Engineering Managers, Product Managers, and senior Product and Engineering leaders to coordinate priorities and ensure successful cross-functional execution.
- Maintain technical oversight of projects, evaluating architectural decisions, engineering quality, and implementation approaches without becoming a bottleneck for the development team.
- Develop a long-term vision for the team's evolution through 2027, including project capacity planning, organizational structure, headcount requirements, and recruitment strategy.
