Backend Systems Engineer

About the role

We're looking for a Backend Systems Engineer to join Fullstack.

Fullstack Trade is building the only unified front-end trading app for retail crypto – perps, cross-chain spot, and prediction markets under one portfolio margin balance. No bridging, no fragmentation. Founded by Flood, creator of Insilico Terminal ($900B CEX volume, 90% market share), and Robin, operated a leading CEX and on-chain HFT firm. Launching Jan/Feb 2027.

You will

- Build risk and liquidation engines that manage risk and capital efficiency in volatile markets.

- Design blockchain state machines powering trading, settlement, and risk operations.

- Build consensus and coordination services that keep state consistent across async processes.

- Process live market data: WebSocket streams and time-sensitive workflows across trading venues.

- Ship high-performance REST and WebSocket APIs with millisecond-level response times.

Requirements

- 2–4 years of backend experience with production Rust.

- Real-time, high-throughput backend services (systems-level, not pipeline work).

- Async programming with Tokio.

- Relational, time-series, and key-value databases.

- Startup or VC-backed company experience.

- Active public GitHub with Rust or C projects outside of work.

- Genuine passion for trading: you actively trade perps or prediction markets, run trading bots, or build on-chain.

- US work authorization: TN and H1B transfers supported (not in year 3 or 6), no OPT/F1.

- On-site 5 days/week in NYC or SF.

Stack

- Rust, Tokio, distributed systems, blockchain, REST APIs, WebSockets, Docker.

Nice to have

- Fintech, crypto, or HFT background.

- Low-latency or trading systems experience.
