Engineering Manager — Luumen

About the role

We're hiring an Engineering Manager to lead the team building Luumen (luumen.ai) — our agentic AI platform for enterprise IT automation.

You'll own the team responsible for the SSH client, the web application, and the backend services behind them — a team of 6–8 engineers across those workstreams.

This is a hands-on leadership role at a Series A startup. We expect you to spend the majority of your time on management, architecture, and unblocking the team — but we also expect you to stay close enough to the code to make credible technical calls, review designs with depth, and occasionally ship something yourself when it matters. Roughly ~20% hands-on is a reasonable baseline; the exact mix will flex with what the team needs.

You'll partner closely with our PM on roadmap, tech debt prioritization, and sequencing work across the team. You'll report to the VP of Product & Engineering.

What you'll do

- Lead a team of 6–8 engineers across the SSH client, web application, and backend services — running 1:1s, performance management, mentorship, career growth, and day-to-day delivery.

- Own technical architecture across the stack you're responsible for — frontend systems, terminal/SSH client patterns, backend service design, API contracts, performance, and the long-term shape of the codebase.
