About the role
Tell us about something you shipped that would have taken you much longer without AI. What did you hand off? What did you check yourself? Where did you have to step in?
We're hiring an engineer who can take a messy problem, figure out what matters, and ship a solution they're willing to own in production. You'll work directly with the founders on a payments platform, from the React screen a customer uses to the Django service that moves their money.
We're a small team, and AI is how we ship like a bigger one. We build in Cursor and coordinate in Linear. We use AI to investigate unfamiliar code, prototype, write tests, and review changes. We care about how much you can deliver with it and how you know the result is right. On a money-moving path, that might mean tracing what happens when a request is retried, checking whether a customer could be charged twice, and making sure we can tell what happened in production.
What you'll own
- Take a customer problem from a rough brief through scoping, implementation, testing, deployment, and follow-up.
- Build across React, TypeScript, Django, and Postgres. Work directly with payment processors, banking APIs, and financial data providers.
- Use AI every day to move work forward. Give it enough context to do useful work, run tasks in parallel when it helps, and review what it produces the way you'd review a teammate's PR before it ships.
- Make the tradeoffs a small team needs someone to make. Decide what to ship now, what needs a closer look, and what can wait. Write down the reasoning so the team can keep moving.
What we're looking for
- You've owned production software. You can point to something you took from an unclear problem to a release and explain what happened after it shipped.
- You're strong across the stack. You've built substantial React and TypeScript interfaces, written Python services, and worked with Postgres schemas, migrations, and query performance. Django experience helps you ramp up quickly.
- You already ship faster with AI, and you can show it. Walk us through a real workflow you've built: where it saves you time, where it fails, and how you catch its mistakes. We use Cursor, and we want to hear what you've learned with your tools.
- You know where to slow down. You can ship a small UI improvement quickly and give a payment flow the extra scrutiny it needs.
- You work well with a small team. You make progress with incomplete information, surface blockers early, and communicate decisions clearly in writing.
Fintech, banking integrations, AI agent workflows, and early-stage startup experience are all useful. If you've ever climbed the ladder in StarCraft, Warcraft III, or Age of Empires, tell us what it taught you about prioritizing under pressure.
How to apply
Send us a short example of something you shipped with AI. A few sentences are enough. Tell us what you owned, how AI changed your approach, how much time it saved, and how you verified the result. A link is welcome if you can share one.
